| International students who are attending high school in Canada (and who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada) must obtain a post-secondary study permit to study at UBC. That will involve changing the conditions on their current permit. If your students will be coming to UBC from outside Canada, more guidance can be found on the coming from abroad page. |

The UBC Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program is the only entry-to-practice program in BC and is taught across three sites in Vancouver, Prince George, and Surrey.
Students interested in the 26-month MPT program should first set their sights on earning a bachelor's degree in any field. While completing that degree, they should keep in mind additional admission requirements for the MPT program, including volunteer experience and specific prerequisite courses in anatomy, physiology, physics, English, statistics, and psychology.

As St. Mary’s University is nearing our application deadline for Fall 2022 (July 1st 2022), we have decided to hold an Information Night for those thinking of applying to our Bachelor of Science Biology degree!
We will be having our BSc in Biology Information Night on May 26th from 7:00 – 8:15 pm – this night will be a great opportunity for prospective students to meet our Biology professors, tour our campus and labs, observe a fun (and edible!) chemistry experiment, and learn more about what to expect from the Biology degree program at StMU! We would therefore be delighted if you could join us for an online Zoom session on how to enrol. Offered between May 16 and May 26, our course enrolment help sessions will show you the best way to enrol in your courses, while giving you a chance to ask our representatives your questions in real time. During the session, we’ll show you how to use the Enrol application in uoZone, after which you’ll have time to build your own schedule and ask questions as you go along. Starting May 24, you can even enrol in courses with our mentors and other representatives there to help you. Session types We recommend that you only register for one since they all cover similar material. There are six types of sessions: General, International, French Immersion, Quebec, STEM and Humanities. See the registration form for an explanation of each. To take part, you must have accepted your offer of admission at least three business days before the session. This spring we’re providing webinars for grade 10 and 11 students (and their families!) who are at the early stages of their post-secondary exploration process. Students and their supporters are welcome to join us for a presentation where we’ll share tips for navigating their options, give an overview of the University of Toronto and provide some admissions basics. While the session will be focused on U of T, much of the information will be applicable to Ontario universities more broadly.

Offers
As both 101 and 105 offers are being steadily released, your students need to be aware of their offer deadlines. It's important they accept or decline before that deadline passes. It is also worth noting, to accept a Western offer of admission, there is no financial commitment! (The housing pre-payment on June 3 is the first required). Ivey AEO (Advanced Entry Opportunity)
Students who have applied for the Advanced Entry Opportunity with Ivey Business School will hear shortly. The decisions are released on a rolling basis through to the end of May. It's possible that students won't hear from Ivey before their deadline to accept their Western offer. There are no extensions, so your students do need to accept before their deadline to avoid missing out! If either you or your students have any questions about this process, please reach out!
Program Availability
After March 1, our 105 equal consideration deadline, programs will begin to fill and close. If you have students still interested in Western, they can still apply pending program space and availability.

2022/23 Application Deadlines – Extensions
Applications are currently open for Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 on EducationPlannerBC.ca. Some programs have a posted application deadline of March 1 or earlier. Many of these deadlines are extended. For example, Arts, Commerce, Planning, and Science majors are continually accepting applications for Fall 2022 (it’s never too late to apply). Competitive programs such as Engineering or Health Sciences have limited seats but will post if they are accepting late applications past the deadline or are accepting applications to a waitlist.
The reason we post any deadline is so that applicants have time to complete their applications, receive an admissions response, apply for entrance awards before their deadlines, and to have first choice of their schedule when course registration opens.

Registration is Open for VIU’s Discovery Day 2022
Discovery Day is our biggest recruitment event for high school students and will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 9 am - 2 pm PST on a virtual event platform called Pheedloop. The platform provides students with some fun ways to engage, including live student chats and sessions, and gamification (more on this to come). The event will be hosted by VIU Student Ambassadors and will focus on the student experience while still giving attendees lots of opportunities to explore our programs and services. Your students will get the most out of the event if they are able to log in individually from a computer. We will also host Parent Sessions that evening from 5 - 7 pm PST for parents interested in learning more about supports and services VIU offers such as financial aid and student housing.
Just like previous years, here are some important things to note:
Discovery Day is open to ALL students in Grades 10, 11 and 12.
There will be engagement activities and contests.
Recruiters and other staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information to students.

My student received an offer of admission - what next?
UCalgary has a webpage dedicated to supporting students with the next steps.
- UCalgary requires that all students accept their offer by May 1, 2022 and pay a $500 non-refundable admission deposit. Details of their offer of admission and deposit deadline as well as their official offer letter are available in their Student Centre.

My student received an offer, what happens to their other program choice?
If a student receives an offer of admission to their first-choice program, this is the only offer of admission they’ll receive. We recommend students rank their application choices with their most desired program as their first choice.
If a student receives an offer of admission to their second-choice program, they will still be considered for their first-choice program provided there is still space available in the program at the time they meet the requirements. Students do not need to reapply and will be reconsidered automatically. For more information, please click here.

My student has not yet received an offer
If a student does not have an offer to their first two choices at this point, we recommend that students considering changing their second choice on their application before the March 1 deadline. Students can change their application choices as many times as they wish until March 1, 2022 for no additional fee.

Other common questions:
I applied for a program with a supplementary application, when will I hear my decision?
Programs with supplementary applications (Bachelor of Health Science, Dance, Music, Visual Studies) make offers after the supplementary application has been reviewed. For Health Science applicants, we highly recommend that they complete their supplementary application as soon as possible as offers have started for this program and the deadline is March 1. For Fine Arts applicants, most auditions will be held in March.
Is it too late to still apply?
Not at all! The deadline to submit an application of admission is March 1, 2022. If students require additional help with their application, we are pleased to offer an in-person Application Workshop on February 23, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
What is the admitting average for each program?
Admission averages are finalized once the pool of applicants is known after the March 1 application deadline and do change throughout the admission cycle. For students who have not received an offer, we recommend that they consider the estimated competitive admission averages highlighted on our Admission Widget as these are the competitive ranges for our programs.
What is the average needed to maintain to keep an offer of admission?
Applicants who have received an offer of admission with high school courses in program must:
- Maintain their average: All students will find a link in their Student Centre in May, highlighting the final admitting average they need to maintain
- Complete all required grade 12 courses for their program by June 30, 2022
- Submit any outstanding documents as outlined in their to-do list
- Graduate from high school

The 2022 Alberta Innovates High School Youth Researcher Summer (HYRS) program is now accepting applications from Grade 11 high school students.
The HYRS program offers Grade 11 students a $3,000 stipend to work alongside a faculty member at the University of Calgary. For six weeks, students will contribute to current health and biomedical research projects, attend educational information sessions, and even have the chance to participate in some exciting social events. For the past two years, HYRS has been held virtually. This year, we are planning to return to in-person delivery. The HYRS program will run from July 4th to August 16th, 2022.
To be eligible, students must
- Be registered as a grade 11 student at a central Alberta high school. This includes all high schools south of Red Deer, to north of, but not including, Claresholm.
- Have a clear interest in pursuing a health research career.
- Have a minimum of 85% standing in Math 20-1 or 20-2, Biology 20, and one other 20 level science course, such as Chemistry 20 or Physics 20. Transcripts or interim reports are required.
- Comply with current COVID-19 public health measures.
A maximum of 2 students per high school will be selected for the HYRS program. The online application deadline for students is Friday, March 18, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. MT. The submission deadline for Teacher & Non-Academic references is Friday, March 25, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. MT.

Personal Profile Statements
UBC and Queens now require these short essays regarding the applicants non academic skills. Applications are considered incomplete without them. Please answer thoroughly as students with high marks only my be rejected because of incomplete responses. Recently U of Waterloo and U of T may also require personal statements or video responses as part of the admissions process. Some schools are wanting to see digital resumes. Studying in the USA
Most colleges and universities require a standardized writing score from SAT or ACT. Canadians have to write the Math/Science section and Reading Comprehension sections Each school sets their own range of scores that is acceptable. The Common Application allows a student to apply to 400 different schools. Indivdual schools may independently control their own enrolments so check the school of interest's web site. Tuition varies widely from U$30,000- 80,000 /yr. Please insure adequate medical insurance.
Deferring Admission
Some post secondary institutions allow deferred entry up to one year. The student cannot attend any other post secondary institution. Each institution sets their own policies regarding deferrals. Please see the side bar for examples for U of Victoria and UBC. Some other schools like U of Calgary do not accept deferrals. Students have to reapply for the following year and may risk losing their acceptance if the GPA has increased for the desired field of study in the desired year of entry.

Applications open October 1st. VIU is now accepting applications for September 2022. Benefits to applying early may include: early transcript review, entry into programs that accept qualified applicants on a first-come first-serve basis (e.g. Forestry and many Trades Programs), access to educational advising, individual academic planning, and backup plan creation. Backup plans are an important consideration that may allow students to still attend VIU (and work towards their intended educational goal) in September 2022, even if they are not a successful applicant in their first choice limited-entry program (ie: Criminology, Kinesiology, Nursing, etc).Click here for more information on VIU’s Areas of Study or to Start your Application.
