Welcome to Canmore Collegiate High School!

At Canmore Collegiate High School (CCHS), learning is an adventure that encourages students to explore, discover, and grow into the best versions of themselves. Guided by care and respect, we help students build the confidence needed to embrace life’s challenges with purpose and resilience.

Our vision, "Fostering a Passion for Learning," is at the core of everything we do. Through innovative programs such as Dual Credit, Career Exploration and Internships, and Environmental Sustainability and STEM, we empower students to pursue their interests while developing valuable skills for post-secondary education and future careers. Programs like French Language Arts 10, which supports future DELF B2 certification, also opens doors to new opportunities, ensuring our students are prepared to thrive in an interconnected world.

As our school is set in the heart of the Bow Valley, we benefit from being immersed in nature with access to multiple outdoor spaces around our school. Through our Wilderness Inspired Leadership Development program and Gr. 10 WimWe Outdoor Program, which offers AST Level 1 certification and six outdoor adventures throughout the year, our students gain hands-on learning experiences in nature.

We are fortunate that our facilities are well beyond what many high schools in major centers offer.  We have a state-of-the-art theatre, commercial kitchen, aquaponics lab, cosmetology lab, construction lab, Makerspace lab complete with multiple 3D printers, Music room with recording studio, and a spacious and naturally lit art room.  Through these spaces, our students have access to courses and activities that support their well-being such as Dance, Yoga, Active Living, Personal Finance and many others.  Access to these facilities and resources allows us to achieve the vision of our division for "Creating a better world through transformational education that celebrates nature, diversity, and well-being."

Student success at CCHS extends beyond academics. We offer a thriving Athletics program, host many different lunchtime clubs each year, and offer fine arts programs that engage students both in and beyond the classroom.  We believe that meaningful learning happens when students feel valued and supported. Through our instructional and extra-curricular programs, we create spaces where students build self-esteem, enhance well-being, and form connections that carry them through their learning journey.

We are also committed to reconciliation and actively support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. Our focus on improving Indigenous student well-being and increasing graduation rates reflects our dedication to strengthening the relationships between students, families, and communities for a brighter, more inclusive future.

We have a strong Student Services Team which includes Learning Support Teachers, Indigenous Success Teachers, and a Counselor.  This team follows a Collaborative Response Model of Student Support where teachers work together to support all students in the classroom.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue working with families and the community to foster student success. Through collaboration, equitable learning environments, and intentional relationships, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to explore their potential with curiosity and purpose.

Thank you for your continued partnership in creating a vibrant future for all students at CCHS. Together, we inspire lifelong learning and well-being.

Sincerely,

Annabel Preece, Principal
