Learning Strategies

Supporting Specific Learning Needs

Canmore Collegiate High School offers Learning Strategies courses for students in Grades 10 - 12 to support specific learning needs and provide tailored guidance for academic success. These courses are available only through recommendation by a teacher, Learning Support Teacher, counsellor, or administrator, and are not available as a regular elective option.

Learning Strategies courses are offered in the following situations:

  • Identified Need Support: Students with identified academic, social-emotional, or behavioral needs may be recommended for Learning Strategies by staff, including Learning Support Teachers, counselors, or administrators.
  • Timetable Flexibility: For students who need a course not available at CCHS or are unable to fit a required course into their schedule, Learning Strategies offers a flexible solution.
  • Credit Recovery and Course Sequencing: Students completing credit recovery or adjusting their course sequence to stay on track for graduation may benefit from Learning Strategies support.
  • Grade 10 Summer CALM Students: Grade 10 students who completed Summer CALM may take one quarter of Learning Strategies during the term when their cohort is enrolled in CALM (availability depends on the school-wide timetable).

These courses are designed to help students meet graduation requirements, access needed courses, and build essential skills, ensuring that all students can achieve their personal and academic goals at CCHS. For more information, please contact our Learning Support team.
