The Wim & Nancy Pauw Wilderness Experience (WimWE) is a unique, outdoor education program designed specifically for all Gr. 10 students. Offering six unforgettable outdoor experiences in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, WimWE introduces students to the beauty and challenges of nature while promoting personal growth, teamwork, and wellness.
Throughout the year, students participate in a series of activities, including hiking at C-Level Cirque, cross-country skiing at the Great Divide Trail, voyageur canoeing at Two Jack Lake, and earning a certification in Avalanche Skills Training (AST) 1, which also provides one high school credit. These experiences, guided by Outdoor Learning Centre educators and classroom teachers, help students build strong classroom communities, develop teacher-student relationships, and foster a deeper connection with the natural world.
WimWE is provided at no cost to CRPS families, ensuring access to equipment, transportation, instruction, and certification. This program is an invaluable opportunity for students to embrace outdoor learning, gain practical wilderness skills, and develop a lifelong appreciation for active, nature-based lifestyles.
