Grade 9 is an important foundation year that prepares students for success in high school. Performance in these courses helps determine the best pathway forward, allowing each student to enter the high school stream that aligns with their goals and strengths.
For those aiming to join the academic 10-1, 20-1, 30-1, and 31 stream, a minimum target of 70% is generally recommended, while a 50% minimum is advised for students pursuing the regular 10-2, 14, 20-2, 24, and 30-2 courses.
Beyond Alberta Education’s Diploma requirements, CCHS students are also expected to complete 25 community service hours during their high school years as part of their journey to the Cap and Gown ceremony in Grade 12. Getting started on these hours in Grade 9 is a great way to build community connections and get involved early.
