CCHS offers a variety of scholarships and awards to recognize student achievements in academics, leadership, citizenship, and extracurricular involvement. For more details or assistance with applications, please contact CCHS' Academic Advisor, Matt Onyschuk.

 

Alberta Education

Alexander Rutherford Scholarship

  • Awarded based on an average of 75% or higher in five subjects for Grades 10, 11, and 12.
  • Students must be registered in a full-time post-secondary program.
  • Application: Visit www.alis.alberta.ca/scholarships or Student Services.
  • Deadline: May 1.

Note: All eligible courses must have a minimum 3-credit value. Driver Education, Work Experience, and Special Projects are excluded. Averages are not rounded.

 

CCHS Awards (Subject to Change)

  • Canmore Lions Scholarships (Grade 9-11): $250 each, recognizing citizenship, service, and personal growth.
  • Canmore Lions Club Legacy Scholarship (Grade 12): $500, for humanitarian commitment and community volunteering.
  • James Reid Memorial Bursary: $500, for outstanding science students pursuing post-secondary science programs.
  • Canmore Art Guild Award: For visual arts students pursuing post-secondary education in the arts.
  • Soroptimist Leadership Award: $500, for leadership, inclusion, and positive change.
  • Rotary Club Citizenship Award: $250, recognizing Grades 10-12 students for citizenship.
  • Collins Barrow Bow Valley LLP Scholarship: $750, for excellence in Mathematics 30P and 31.
  • Merit Contractors Association Award: $300, for Construction Technology Studies students.
  • Grade 9 Citizenship Award: $100, for exemplary citizenship.
  • Christina Barr Art Scholarship: $150, for dedication to art projects and goals.
  • Canmore Woodcrafters CTS Woodworking Achievement Award: For excellence in CTS woodworking.
  • St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church Bursary: $500, for students with community and faith-based volunteerism.
  • Peter and Catharine Whyte Fine Art Scholarship: $1000, awarded for original artwork inspired by the Rockies.
  • Bow Valley Running Club Scholarship: $125, for achievement in cross-country or track.
  • Cross-Country Athletic Scholarship: $500, for students on the cross-country team pursuing post-secondary.
  • Rocky Mountain Cycling Club Award: Recognizes students’ work ethic, club commitment, and post-secondary enrollment.
  • Helen Olorenshaw Memorial Volunteer Award: $200, for volunteer service improving community life.
  • Canadian Parents for French Scholarships: $250 and three awards of $100 for DELF Diploma excellence.
  • Bow Valley Basics Scholarship: $250, for students entering commerce or business administration.
  • Canmore Jam Music Scholarship: $1000 or two $500 awards, for post-secondary music studies.
  • Canmore Folk Music Festival Award: $150, for commitment and passion for music.
  • Eileen Reid Fine Arts Bursary: $300, for excellence in English and Fine Arts courses.
  • Alan Hipkins Memorial Award: $500, for students pursuing theatre, film, or TV production.
  • International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Bursary: $500, for apprenticeship training in trades.
  • Rotary Club Communication Technology Awards: $250 (Grade 11) and $100 (Grade 10) for design, video, and photography.
  • ATA Scholarship: $500, for a teacher’s child pursuing post-secondary education.
  • CUPE Local 4306 Award: $500, for CUPE members’ children entering post-secondary education.
  • 3 Ski Areas Alpine Scholarship: $1000, for students engaged in winter sports.
  • Bertram Dyck Leadership Bursary: $1000, awarded for a leadership-focused essay.
  • Shellian Family Humanitarian Memorial Scholarship: $300, for students pursuing humanitarian-focused post-secondary studies.
  • Governor General’s Academic Award: For the Grade 12 student with the highest two-year average.
  • Grade 12 Subject Awards: $50 each, awarded for top marks in individual subjects.
  • Rotary Club Scholarships:
    • Engineering: $500 for engineering programs.
    • Technical/Applied: $500 for technical programs or RAP students.
    • Human Services/Nursing: $500 for nursing or human services.
  • Skal International Canadian Rockies Tourism Award: $300, for students pursuing tourism studies.
  • Mount Temple IODE Award: $1000, for students entering education related to children, youth, or community service.
  • Alberta RAP Scholarship: $1000, recognizing Registered Apprenticeship Program students.
  • Town of Canmore Law Enforcement Bursary: $2500, for criminal justice/policing students.

 

Institutional Awards

Many post-secondary institutions offer scholarships. Information is available in their calendars and counseling offices.

 

Other Awards and Bursaries

Some employers provide scholarships for employees' children. Students are encouraged to ask parents to explore this possibility.
