Wolverine Weekly Feb 23rd 2025

Wolverine Weekly February 23rd, 2025

Ms. Keon and I hope that everyone had a wonderful week off.  We hope you were able to relax and enjoy some downtime with your loved ones and that your children got a chance to take a brain break and get in some high quality outdoor time!  Pink shirt day is this week on Wednesday.  We encourage all students and staff to wear pink on that day.  This month Ms. Haywood-Farmer our counselor has been running kindness activities throughout the school day.  In addition Ms. Des has opened up some ‘passive programming’ in the library so that all students have a place to feel safe and welcome at lunch time.  She has opportunities for students to do mini crafts while they enjoy connecting with like minded students on a schedule that suits them.  Thank you to all our staff who make all students feel cared for and welcome each day.

University visits this week

This week Acadia University and Bishop's University will be set up in the circle on Tuesday at lunchtime.  We encourage our French Immersion and French Language Arts students to check out the unique opportunities available to them at Bishop's  University.

Parent Micro Session Feb 25th 2025 6:30-7pm

CCHS will be holding a parent micro session on Feb 25th 6:30pm - 7pm.  The topic is: French Immersion and FSL (French as a Second Language) pathways at CCHS: it doesn't end in grade 8 or 9! It will be a hybrid session with the in person meeting being held in our CCHS cafeteria and this link meet.google.com/bss-ifrs-oek being available to families who wish to join virtually.

We would like to encourage any parents with students in French Immersion, who are Francophone or who are interested in French as a Second Language courses to attend.  Students can still pick up French 10 (FSL) even if they have not studied French before.  We have invited LGMS and ERS parents to attend as well.

School Council Meeting Tuesday Feb 25th @ 7pm

Here is the virtual link meet.google.com/kjm-vfzo-hqp .  Our in person meeting is held in the cafeteria.  All parents are invited to attend any or all School Council meetings on a one off or ongoing basis.

Diploma (gr 12) and Provincial Achievement Test (gr 9) Exam Schedule for June available

All Diploma (held in June) and PAT exams (held in May and June) have been added to the CCHS calendar.  Please view the months of May and June HERE.  (click the ‘next’ button at the top right corner of the calendar to navigate between months).  Please remember that these dates are set by the province and are not adjustable.  A Diploma course is not considered complete without the Diploma Exam being written.

Resources

At CCHS we believe our teachers are best situated to provide resources and study tools for our students preparing for exams.  They know your child best as a learner and can help them identify areas that they should focus on and those that they have strengths in.  We are confident that your child’s classroom teacher will provide all the tools and information they need to prepare for their exams.  However, we recognize that some families like to use outside resources to support their students.  As a result we are passing on this information below for interested families.  Please note the school does not accept payment for these resources.

The Key order here.

Deals this month:

  • SOLARO: $25 (was $200)
  • The KEY: $25 (was $34.99)
  • SNAP: $25 (was $34.99)
