Student G7 Mock Debate and Environmental Project
CCHS is hosting the Bow Valley Student G7 Mock Debate on May 15th. This unique event is offered to schools in the geographical area of G7 meetings. OLS and NDM students will be joining us. Our Social 20-1 students will take on representing Japan, Canada and the USA while OLS will represent Germany and NDM will represent France. Our French Language Arts 10 class will be working with NDM to bring to life their French Language skills with other students in the Bow Valley who speak French as a first language. Students have put in many hours in and out of the classroom to be fully prepared for this extensive debate. This project meets many of the skill outcomes of the Social Studies and French Language Arts curriculum. We are grateful to the G7 educational team for putting together this once in a lifetime experience.
Also in connection with the upcoming G7, our Outdoor Education 9 and WILD classes will be participating in an environmental project in Kananaskis prior to the G7 meeting. Among other things, students will be removing invasive plant species to enhance the opportunities for native plant species to flourish. Again this is supported by the G7 educational team and is a unique way for the G7 to give back to the host community.
Exam Weeks - Diplomas and PATs start before exam week!
Ms. Keon and I have been delighted to see that students returned from spring break refreshed and ready to push through to the end of the school year and final exams. We are currently finalizing our exam calendar for grade 10 and 11 courses but the Diploma Exam schedule (gr 12 courses) is here (be sure to look at June 2025 schedule) and Provincial Achievement Test (gr 9 courses) schedule are found here (be sure to look at the June 2025 schedule). June 13th is the last day of classes for all grades and June 16th is the first day of official exam week. However, both Diploma Exams and PATs start before that. Watch your email and the CCHS website for the full gr 10/11 exam schedule coming out next week.
Volunteer Hours
All CCHS students require 20 hours of volunteer service to participate in our CCHS Graduation Ceremony. These must be submitted by June 6th which is the date we calculate graduation eligibility. Our Career and Post Secondary Advisor, Mr. O, can provide you with the hours your student has already submitted. If you have hours to submit you can find the online Google Form HERE or you can continue to submit a paper record to Mr. O in student services.
Graduation Ceremony - Participation and Honours Calculation
*Reminder* All students must be passing all courses required for graduation and be on track to complete the requirements of a High School Diploma or High School Certificate of Achievement as of June 6th 2025 to be included in our ceremony.
Honours calculations will be made with marks students have on June 9th 2025. Students who achieve honours standing after June 9th will be recognized at our fall Awards Night. See Ms. Bittner or questions about honours. Calculation formulas for honours are found on pg 15 of our Student Handbook.
As we get closer to our graduation ceremony on June 26th at 11am please help your grade 12 student keep in mind that there is a MANDATORY grad ceremony rehearsal in the gym at 8am on June 25th. We start this early to accommodate students writing the Science 30 Diploma exam at 9am on the day of the rehearsal. The graduation ceremony is NOT a ticketed event. Doors open at 10:30 am and seating is ‘in the round’. After your student has attended the grad rehearsal they will know where they are sitting. They can then tell you the section you should sit in (opposite them gives you the best view) when you arrive. The school does not organize and is not responsible for the graduation banquet however tickets for the banquet are

Introducing our Student Wellness Advisory Groups for the 2026-2026 School Year
Introducing our Student Wellness Advisory Group for the 2025-2026 school year. Throughout this year our new SWAG block has been discussed at School Council. In addition a dedicated information session for parents was held on March 13th 2025. You can find the presentation from that session on our website here. All students from grade 9 to 12 will be assigned to a mandatory SWAG class for the 2025-2026 school year. The class will run each Monday, Wednesday and on full day Fridays for 30 mins between A and B block. Attendance is mandatory and at least 80% attendance at SWAG is required to participate in our graduation ceremony, this is a similar requirement to needing 20 hours of volunteer experience to participate in our graduation ceremony. We are very excited to launch this initiative in line with the wellness goals of our Division.
CRPS Teacher Symposium
On May 16th all CRPS staff gather in their school staff groups to share learnings from this year’s ½ day Fridays and to work with their Lead Learners and Administrators to shape their plans for next year. All this work is centered around the Division Mission, Vision and our CRPS Shared Vision of Learning which guides all our work.
