Wolverine Weekly Sept 7th 2025

September 7th 2025
Dear CCHS families,
Ms. Keon and I really enjoyed getting to know so many families at our Meet the Teacher event on Thursday this week. We hope you enjoyed connecting with our staff and that you found our presentations informative. HERE is the link to where you can find all 3 presentations from the Grade Level Information Sessions held that night.
By now you should have received a ‘welcome to my class email’ and course outline from your child’s teacher. To stay in touch with your child’s education it is great to ask them one thing they learned in each class, an assignment they are working on or something they found interesting in their class that day.
On Friday we had our Welcome back BBQ for students and a pep rally assembly with some friendly events to build community spirit and help students begin to build a sense of belonging. Congrats to the Grade 12's who gathered the most points in the various events. All grades had successes in different events and it was great to see the sense of community being built. We hope your child enjoyed this event which was put on by our whole staff working together.
WimWe Grade 10 Hikes
Our first grade 10 WimWe Hikes go out on Sept 10th and 12th. These are organized through our Grade 10 STEM classes. Please check your email to ensure you have filled in your child’s permission form and that they have or have asked to borrow from the school the equipment they need. Your child’s STEM teacher is the key contact for this unique program. As all grade 10’s participate in this program there is no need to worry about getting behind in class on that day. Teachers are aware of the value of this program for students at CCHS in the Bow Valley and strongly encourage participation. To the best of our knowledge we are the only school in Canada that offers this opportunity and FREE Avalanche Safety Training to an entire grade group. We are very thankful to the Pauw foundation for covering 100% of the costs of this program for our Grade 10’s. More information about WimWe can be found HERE.
One to One Device Requirement for students
CCHS is a one to one device school. All students are required to have their own computer device for class each day. Phones and tablets do not meet the criteria for this requirement as we need to comply with the Ministerial Order on Personal Devices in the classroom during teaching time. Devices should meet the criteria HERE. Much as your child might tell you they need the latest Macbook air - they don’t! All that is needed is a Chromebook like device with a keyboard that connects to the internet as CRPS platforms are accessed through the internet. A typical device that meets requirements for CCHS is between $300-500 and will be used by your child daily for the next 4 years.
We have a small number of school devices that are signed out on a block by block basis for students who may have their own device in for repair or have forgotten their charger or device for the day. These devices are not intended to be a long term solution for students.
School Council Meeting
Our first School Council meeting for parents will be held in the CCHS Conference Room (with a virtual connection available) at 7pm on September 16th. We encourage all families with a student at CCHS to attend this meeting to gain a deeper understanding of our school and the opportunities provided to students. You can reach our school council directly by emailing cchsptcouncil@gmail.com
Seeking your Input - Parent Micro Sessions
Our parent micro sessions last year were a success. These sessions were a quick 30 min info sharing on topics of interest to CCHS families. With up to 60 families attending each session we are eager to get this initiative back up and running again this year. You can view all the sessions along with the Google Slides presentations we ran last year HERE
To continue with the success of this program we need your input. Please complete this quick 3 question survey HERE. In the survey we created a list of possible repeats, new ideas and a section for your ideas. Please share your ideas HERE. Once we have a good selection of ideas we will start up these sessions again.
