Wolverine Weekly Sept 28th 2025

>>>>Wolverine Weekly Sept 28th 2025<<<<

Hello CCHS families,

CCHS recognized Truth and Reconciliation Day on Wednesday Sept 24th.  We are grateful to Knowledge Keepers Virgle, Ollie, Tracey and Kassandra for guiding us through this day.  In addition we’d like to thank David Bearspaw from the Stoney Nakoda First Nation for being our MC.  In addition we were fortunate to have five students from CCHS share dances with us on this special day.  We are grateful to them for sharing their culture with us and helping us better understand dance as a way of healing.  All the dancers perform in handmade regalia which takes many, many hours to make and we are honoured that they were willing to make this day so meaningful to CCHS.  At CCHS we strive to walk forward together with our Indigenous students and families and all Indigenous Peoples across the nation on the journey of reconciliation and we recognize there is still much work to do across Canada.  We take guidance from our Knowledge Keepers in how best to fulfill this important mission.  Sept 30th is Truth and Reconciliation Day across Canada and is a day with no classes at CCHS.  We encourage our students to check out events around the Bow Valley on this special day including those being held in Canmore.

Our first WILD class was out at Upper Kananaskis Lake this week doing their Water Experience course. We look forward to hearing of their adventures when they return to school .  We thank the Canadian Rockies Outdoor Learning Center for all their support behind the scenes with this learning opportunity.  Our Band Parents had their first meeting last week and we thank them for all the work they put into supporting our students who are exploring music at our school.

Terry Fox Run

It was great to see our student body participating in the Terry Fox Run on Friday!  We ran a modified school schedule and our staff and students were enthusiastic as they made their way along our route.  Thanks to our families for supporting our Toonies for Terry online CCHS TERRY FOX DONATIONS and at our main office for cash donations.  So far we have raised $810 of our goal of $1200.  The donation link above will remain active all week in the hopes that we can reach our goal.  Students are also welcome to bring cash donations to the main office.

School Council Meeting

Our next School Council meeting will be October 21st at 7pm following our parent micro session.  We invite all families to attend.  A virtual link will be sent out in the upcoming Wolverine Weeklies.  You are not required to take on a role at the meeting and are encouraged to attend at least one meeting a school year to find out what is going on and what is upcoming at CCHS.  These meetings are important forums for administration to share with families our plans for the school and to gather feedback.

Bio 20 Project:  As part of our Bio 20 program students are challenged to take on a community project that is connected to the environment in some way.  The message below is from some students who are doing a movie night to share information on the importance of trees in our world!

On Thursday, October 2nd at 5 pm, 3 CCHS Bio 20 students will be showing the Lorax movie in the theatre to raise money and spread awareness for the planet. All CCHS and Alpenglow families are Welcome! (Alpenglow students must be accompanied by an adult) A 5$ admission donation will be requested at the door, there will be treats sold from a bake sale at intermission. Proceeds go towards Tree Canada and Oceana. Come learn how YOU can speak for the trees!

Have a great week!
