Wolverine Weekly November 24th 2024

Last week at CCHS was quiet in terms of student activities.  As we roll though the last six weeks of classes before the winter break this is a time for students to take stock of where they are in each of their courses.  We encourage students to reach out to teachers either in person or via email to open discussions about areas for growth.

Remember that students’ current marks will fluctuate, this is normal.  Different outcomes (in grade 9) and assessments (in grade 10,11,12) hold different weightings and this will affect a students overall grade to different degrees.  Teachers spend a great deal of time collaborating with each other on these weightings to ensure fairness between courses.  For example, grade 9 and grade 10 year long courses (English/French Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science) are just slightly over ¼ complete.  There are still a lot of learning outcomes to cover so your child’s grade is NOT representative of everything in the course yet.

Please speak to your student about the extra support that is available every lunch hour - details are in the daily announcements under ‘quicklinks’ on the school website. Peer tutors are also available and for further information please contact:

Athletics

Basketball and curling are now in full swing.  Checking the Daily Announcements under quick links for tryout and practice information is the most up to date way to gather information at this early stage of the season.  As teams are selected those on each time will be informed how they can receive the most up to date information about practices and games.

The Wolverine Code is something that we ask families to review with your student(s) should they wish to join a sports team. This is a reminder that our sports teams are extra-curricular, we expect students to attend classes regularly, stay up to date on assignments, and have a positive attitude while representing CCHS at all times. Basketball, Trail Running, and Curling are available for students and the schedules can be found on our website.
