Career Fair on Wednesday April 9th 2025 How to Help Your Student Prepare
On Wednesday CCHS will host the student Career Fair from 9am to 11am. Students in all grades will have the opportunity to attend. Mr. O is available to help students fine tune their resumes this week. You can reach out to him for help for your student at matt.onyschuk@crps.ca We suggest that students who are interested in part time or summer jobs bring 3 to 5 paper copies of their resume to drop off with employers at the Career Fair on Wednesday. Printing can be done at the school library if needed. Sometimes employers hire students right at the fair or they reach out to them using the information on their resume in the days following the event. Below are some suggestions that can help you prepare your child for a successful Career Fair.
- Encourage your student to research the company beforehand: Understanding the company’s background, values, and goals can help students formulate relevant questions. Parents can assist their child in this research process.
- Focus on job role and responsibilities: Students should ask about the specific tasks and responsibilities associated with the job, and the expectations for their role. Parents can help their child brainstorm questions around this.
- Ask about growth and learning opportunities: Employers are often impressed by candidates who show interest in developing their skills. Parents can encourage their child to ask questions about mentorship, training programs, or opportunities for growth within the company.
- Inquire about company culture: It’s essential for students to feel comfortable in their work environment. Parents can guide their child to ask questions about the company culture, team dynamics, or any initiatives that promote work-life balance and employee well-being.
- Discuss performance evaluation: Students may benefit from asking about performance reviews or how their progress will be evaluated. Parents can suggest that their child ask questions about feedback mechanisms or employee recognition programs.
- Seek advice for success: Asking potential employers for their advice on how to succeed in the role can create a positive impression. Parents can help their child frame questions that demonstrate their willingness to learn and adapt.
- Discuss scheduling and availability: Students should ask about scheduling requirements and any flexibility in their work hours. Parents can remind their child to discuss their availability or any potential conflicts, such as school commitments.
Asking well-informed questions during a career fair shows genuine interest in the job and the company, leaving a positive impression on potential employers.
The suggestions provided in this section were obtained through consultation with an artificial intelligence (AI) service named Pi, designed and developed by Inflection AI. Pi aggregates information from a variety of sources, including publicly available research and best practices in career development.

France 2026 Fundraising
The students in our French program are fundraising for a trip to France at Spring Break in 2026. This is part of an initiative to encourage students to continue their studies in French Language Arts or French as a Second Language. The tentative plan is to offer this trip every second year to students who are registered in our Grade 10, 11 and 12 French programs.
We invite you to support them in their fundraising by purchasing some of the items they are currently selling. Contact Jessica.lefreniere@crps.ca for more information.
Volunteer Hours
All CCHS students require 20 hours of volunteer service to participate in our CCHS Graduation Ceremony. These must be submitted by June 6th which is the date we calculate graduation eligibility. Our Career and Post Secondary Advisor, Mr. O, can provide you with the hours your student has already submitted. If you have hours to submit you can find the online Google Form HERE or you can continue to submit a paper record to Mr. O in student services.
