Wolverine Weekly Sept 14th 2025

>>>September 14th 2025<<<
Dear CCHS families,
This month our SWAG groups have been focusing on starting up some Digital Portfolios, thinking about their goals for the year and continuing to build community and connection in their groups. We’ve seen everything from ‘Chuck the Chicken’ games, Secret Angel connections, interest inventories for post secondary and beyond, grad plan completion and advice from our older grades to our younger grades in SWAG class this week. Thank you to our teachers for digging into their groups and getting them going and to Ms. Farmer who is spearheading providing ideas, materials and topics for universal lesson plans.
Our Football team and our Girls Soccer team are in full swing with some successes on the score sheets already. Thank you to our many volunteer coaches and managers who give hours and hours of their time to work with our young athletes.
Demographic Form Updates
On August 27th, all families were sent an email with the title “Form has been assigned Annual Demographic Form is Incomplete”. We ask that all our families either click on the link in their email or log in to Parent Portal and update their child’s Annual Demographic file. Each year your FOIP preferences, preferences for walking field trips, emergency contacts and medical info must be updated. This allows us to carry out your wishes for your child while they are in school and to help us contact you in case of an emergency. Thank you for completing this form at your earliest convenience.
School Council Meeting
Our first School Council meeting for parents will be held in the CCHS Conference Room (with a virtual connection available) at 7pm on September 16th. We encourage all families with a student at CCHS to attend this meeting to gain a deeper understanding of our school and the opportunities provided to students. You can reach our school council directly by emailing cchsptcouncil@gmail.com
The virtual link for the meeting is HERE
Grad Plans Due for Grade 12 Students Planning to Graduate this Year
Grad Plans for grade 12 students are due Sept 26th by 3:30pm in the basket in the main office. All the details about submitting your grad plan are found HERE in the Grad Handbook. If you need help with your Grad Plan see Mr. O in the office. If you need help with your MyPass account please see Ms. Donna McCuaig in the main office. Please connect with these resources well before the submission deadline!
WimWe Grade 10 Hikes
Our first grade 10 WimWe Hikes went out on Sept 10th and 12th. By all accounts the students had a wonderful day out in our beautiful backyard. We definitely saw the benefits of our students being out in nature when they returned to the classroom the next day. Our next group goes out on Monday Sept 15th. As all grade 10’s participate in this program there is no need to worry about getting behind in class on that day. Teachers are aware of the value of this program for students at CCHS in the Bow Valley and strongly encourage participation. To the best of our knowledge we are the only school in Canada that offers this opportunity and FREE Avalanche Safety Training to an entire grade group. We are very thankful to the Pauw foundation for covering 100% of the costs of this program for our Grade 10’s. More information about WimWe can be found HERE.
Vehicle Safety
We are concerned about some of our student drivers and their choices and habits in the parking lot. If your child drives to school please speak with them about the importance of following the 10km/hour speed limit in the parking lot and the 30km/hour speed limit on the roads in front of the school. At dismissal time many of our Alpenglow students are also in the parking lot and our young drivers need to be highly aware of this as they drive. Bylaw and RCMP are now regularly patrolling the parking lot.
Upcoming dates:
September 19th: Professional Learning Day, 11:20 a.m. dismissal.
September 24th: Modified Timetable, Truth and Reconciliation Assembly 11:00-12:00
September 26th: We will be supporting the Terry Fox Foundation through our own in-house fundraising run. More information will come next week. Parents are welcome to join us, as this is a public event.
September 26th: Grade 12 Grad Plans are Due
September 30th: School Closure, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
